UPDATE, APRIL 21: It's not just you! This same issue has returned quite strongly this morning, unfortunately.

UPDATE: TNT have announced there will be downtime on the site between 2AM and 4AM on Wednesday 16th.

Over the last few weeks you may have noticed that, particularly in the mornings, Neopets.com has been fairly laggy. Well, last night into this morning, things have gotten progressively worse. Now, the site is lagging so badly that sustained play is proving impossible for many users - it isn't just you!

Many users are now encountering pages either not loading, edgesuite errors, or the following error on pages:

Error: Having trouble retrieving results Please reload the page

TNT is aware of the issue and looking into solutions. Last night, the Quest Log was taken down for around an hour to try and mitigate the issue, but when it returned the lag continued. We'll keep you updated if there are any other developments.

As a note, when periods of lag like this impact the main site, Tales of Dacardia rewards often fail to arrive in your Neopets.com account. This is temporary, and the rewards should come through when things improve.

was worried out internet connection was getting really bad!

Our Guild pages have been a nightmare to visit for a while - message boards constantly saying "sorry there are no messages here" and many of us having to wait until later in the day (or night) in order to get through to them and blames the meepits and their glitches!

I'm glad this isn't just happening to me.my internet and notebook are not very good but I've always been able to use the site without any lag issues, even though I'm from another country. It was only recently that this started happening, and today it's much worse. I managed to do the diaries, but now I won't use site anymore until they fix this,It's very annoying to use any website or game that is lagging.

I would definitely believe if something screwy with the ads was causing it, considering I'm pretty sure an ad tried to download malware THROUGH two layers of adblock last night, which is an impressive level of shadiness I've never seen before. (Firefox asked me where I wanted to save a file when I loaded one of my pet lookups.)

"Neopets will always be free" stops being true when the options are either "get Premium" or "pay to get your computer fixed"

My first go to is JN and my second is the neopets community on other social media places.

And then when my quest page finally showed up, it was under maintenance! I only had a few days on my Springabee weekly prize but hopefully I didn't lose progress.

@ Those Who Lost Their Daily Quest/Trudy Streak:
Submit a ticket, usually what they do is just give you the weekly item (and will probably reroll the weekly item for your current streak for free) and the average amount of NP you had left to earn from Trudy.

@ contessa/Lost Fortune Cookie Day:
Like above, send a ticket (make sure you specify which cookie it is), and usually they'll just give you another cookie of the same kind.

@ Lost A Day For Festival Of Neggs:
Not sure what to do here. Like you can submit a ticket and MAYBE they'll change your check from green to gold. Alternatively they could just lower the requirement to get all the prizes at the end of the event thus don't have to touch a thing.

When something like this happens, they should just automatically give everyone a free streak freeze reset. It's only fair.

I was able - painfully, it took me hours with all the errors - finish my quests, but I was unable to claim my prizes before the questlog went down. I

At least I was able to get my Festival of Neggs stuff done before the downtime. I feel bad for everyone who missed out. I hope TNT makes up for it somehow.

My word it'd be REALLY helpful if they had a way to notify users on site when they schedule maintenance. Shame they don't have a notification feature for neomail or friend requests or trudy resets they could piggyback off oh wait

I'm aware in the scheme of things this is a first world problem but I would have done my dailies at midnight and now it's 50/50 on whether I'll be able to play again before midnight tomorrow or have to use both streak tickets to keep my progress.

It's a bit past 4am NST, and I'm still getting the red pteri of dooooooom. Not surprising, really, but it's messing with my routine. Thankfully I claimed my weekly QL item yesterday, so I won't be losing any progress with that, but Trudy's and Negg fest? Well, I just hope they get it cleared up soon so maybe I can sneak in later to complete my dailies. Even if QL isn't back up and functional.

I don't know what they did for 3 hours but the first thing I did was try to spin Trudy and after 5 attempts. I'm still getting the same error messages as yesterday "www.neopets.com doesn’t support a secure connection

I am relieved it's not just me as sometimes my computer has troubles but on the other hand...bummer man. I'm hoping it gets sorted soon because I'm about having to give up on quests/dailies because I lack both the time and the patience to wait for everything to load forever. I saw the news. I worked the Daily Quest Log. For Hours. Got everything. Collected prizes. Collected 20k. Checked that weekly prize marker advanced. Took a screenie with local date/time prominent.

New day. New Quest Log. Yay! Site is finally back up and I can collect my (NICE and needed) weekly.

Oh, wait. Weekly marker has reset to 0. Again. Unfairly. Again.

I hope I got to keep the NPs, at least. *smh* That was NOT my site fix....

Last time, the 15th, I mentioned that it was working fairly decently on mobile. This time, at least earlier today, it was damn near unusable with errors almost every page.

It's better now, but the time difference (I'm 4 hours ahead of NST/PT) sure makes for an interesting experience when it comes to checking updates

It's a matter of being quite patient. Thankfully, I have other things to be doing so it's not that maddening at the moment, just a smidge annoying.

@dakukuu - Are you sure the dark mode is coming from JN? It could be a browser add-on or setting that's making dark mode persistent for you.

@pikachu315111 - I don't think this is accurate. Last time the lag happened and I lost my quest log streak, they didn't give me the item I had been working toward or re-roll the item either. They did refill my streak freezes, but the dialogue to use the streak freeze didn't appear so I was unable to save my streak.
