Today the old April Fools from 2023, The Sceptic Tank has been updated. Nick Neopia is back with more conspiracy theories, this time related to the Void Within plot.


If you click on the 'Read Theory Notes' button on the page, you can read Nick's new theories. Once you have read through them all, you will be awarded the following item and a new avatar:



Note that it is presently unclear if the avatar will be available beyond April 1st, like the Mind Control Avatar that remains live on the page for those who do not have it already. Best to claim it today, just in case!

Many people are struggling to get the button on the page to work. Some users have found success with changing browsers or switching to incognito mode, but this isn't consistent for everyone.

The third item for the Busy Bookworm collection is now released, and features Seshatia! This item will only be available in April.

Hmm, you may have noticed some odd celebrations happening here at JN since earlier this morning... Seems some Meepits have infested our server, and are turning back the clock? Happy Thanksgiving? And Valentine's Day?! And Halloween!

We're looking into it and hope to get to the bottom of it soon... stay tuned.

In the meantime... Happy April Fools' Day! You may have noticed a few changes to JN themes today, too! We are in the process of putting the finishing touches on universal dark mode for all site themes here at Jellyneo. Currently, if your browser settings are set to use dark mode, that preference will be respected by our theme and turn JN into a darker version.

We're still working on tweaking the themes along with testing it across departments. We hope to have it fully rolled out in the next couple weeks.

Also, enjoy our brand new Pirates & Scallywags theme! Perfect for celebrating International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Arr, mateys! 🏴‍☠️ To change your site theme, scroll to the very bottom of any page here at JN and look for the "Your Site Theme" section in the footer. An Invisible Meerca is now available!


At the time of writing, the colour does not appear to be activated yet, as it is not yet appearing at the Rainbow Pool. If you plan on creating an Invisible Meerca after it is, check out our Modeling page, as we'll need your help!

Finally, there's a special announcement for an upcoming "Handmade Item Day" in the Art Gallery. What makes it special? Apparently, this round will award the effectively-retired "Random Contest Winner" avatar!


Submissions for this contest are due "by April 8th (4/8)" according to the New Features. (And to be clear—this is a real announcement, not an April Fools joke!)

Welcome to the 1st Saturday of the month: Rubbish Dump Day!

In April 2022, TNT updated the Rubbish Dump to increase the drop rate of "rubbish" eligible for the avatar. (And we've even seen some Hidden Tower items pop up that weren't previously confirmed as prizes!)

The Rubbish Dump is special in that items dropped there appear after a Neopian refreshes the dump. (In other words, refreshing the page gives you the chance to "donate" some rubbish to the queue.) The more people visiting and refreshing, the more rubbish dropped, and the more opportunities there are for avatar items to appear!

Starting now, and continuing all day, here's how you can gather and participate:

If you DON'T have the avatar...

• Visit the Rubbish Dump in Meridell and refresh to generate rubbish!
• Claim up to 8 pieces of rubbish to clear the way for more items to appear. (And make sure not to claim anything from the Money Tree or Second-Hand Shoppe... it's 10 items max from all 3 locations combined!)
• To be safe from accidental clicks, save your last 2 rubbish claims for when an avatar item pops up. (You can claim up to 10 items from the Rubbish Dump per day.)
• Review our guide to familiarize yourself with which items are eligible for the avatar.

If you DO have the avatar...

• Visit the Rubbish Dump in Meridell and refresh to help generate rubbish! Even if you have the avatar, refreshing helps generate more "donations" that will show up later. (And that means more opportunities for avatar items to pop up!)
• Claim up to 10 pieces of rubbish to help clear the way for avatar-eligible items to appear.
• Be kind and leave the cheaper avatar-eligible items (like the Fading Bottled Faeries) for those who need the avatar! We won't mind, however, if you try sniping a Dung Catapult.

The more the merrier, so share this post with your Neofriends and guildmates!

Varwolf Updates
Welcome to the 56th Neopets species, the Varwolf! We've made a number of updates around Jellyneo accordingly. You can now view Varwolves at our Rainbow Pool listing at the Wardrobe, and learn more about them in our Book of Ages guide:


We've also made several minor tweaks around the site:

• We've added info about creating them to our Premium Perks and Limited and Restricted Neopets guides.
• We've added them as a species exclusion on our Lab Ray and Pound Transfer guides.
• You can select them at our Petpet Matcher tool in the Item Database.
• You can select them as your jnAccount avatar, which is visible when you comment on our news posts.
• You can select them as a species filter at the Book of Ages (though TNT has made no characters yet!) and our Battlepedia Advanced Search (though TNT have made no exclusive weapons yet!)

tsun scoops and Yifang Tea NorCal Guides
We've added recaps of two recent Neopets merch partnerships: tsun scoops and Yifang Tea NorCal! These brand activations took place at the end of 2024 as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations. Check them out for all the details, including some fun pictures!


If you're hoping for another opportunity to enjoy a Neopets-themed chilled treat, you're in luck! Neopets recently announced a partnership with It's Boba Time "transforming 100 locations across the US into Neopia, featuring themed decor and exclusive giveaways" this coming May 2025!

Tales of Dacardia

Our Tales of Dacardia guide has continued to expand in the last month.

To kick it off, we have a fresh guide on the Premium Parlour! Find out about all of the current and previous items and Neopets available for sale as in-app purchases.


We've also got a guide up for the Spring Celebration event currently ongoing through April 8th.


We've also gone back and retroactively filled our Tales of Dacardia Events hub with guides for all of the past events. Will you find them useful? Probably not! But will you find them interesting? Maybe! Here they are:


Finally, we've updated our Buddy Bulletin Board guide with the new types of tasks introduced in the last update, and Wheel of Prizes guide with the latest batch of prizes (which according to the in-app announcements will be rotating out later this week)!

Faerie Fragments
Unfortunately, the beleaguered Faerie Fragments mobile app has been effectively unplayable for most people since last weekend, but we've continued to enhance our guide.

First up, we have an event guide for the current seasonal event, Tia's Seasonal Exchange, which you likely won't be able to participate in with the app's current broken state. This event is the first to offer a prize on Neopets.com!


We've also added listings of the basic details of all levels (which the game currently won't let you complete).


Similarly, we've added a Story hub with a rundown of all the tasks involved in both the Main and Side stories. If you already have Wocky Jelly or Jam, you may still be able to progress the story while the app is broken, you just might not be able to earn more!


Finally, we've launched a hub for what we are calling "Bonus Activities": the various minigames and features the app offers to earn (or buy) in-game rewards. Some of these don't require level progression, so you can stock up on rewards even while the gameplay is defective! We've shuffled some existing info into guides here, as well as added a handful of new ones. Look forward to guides for the rest of these activities in the coming weeks.


Hopefully TNT will figure out how to restore this app to a serviceable state soon!
