Your resident triplet Graphic Artist here, bringing you another edition of the JN Editorial! *cheer*

Here at JN, I've worked on graphics for Altador Cup 3, and managed the majority of the graphics for the new Goal Counter service. I can't say I've done much yet, but I'm just getting started so you should get to see more of my work soon! *wink*

Alrighty, onwards with the editorial! In this edition, I answer non-graphical questions about restocking, the fountain faerie, question-length, and follow up on Stephen's Stalkers. I might even show you one of my ninja-esque disguises! But that's only if you're lucky :P

I'll get it out of the way now - this is just a very, very mini plot to preempt the opening of Petpet Park. Nothing extensive (meaning no need to stay home from school/work or be up until 3 AM like usual). :P

The plot is English only, meaning not everyone on the site can play it. Hence, there will be no trophy. (One of the same reasons sponsor games don't have trophies. It's not fair for those who can't access them.) Sorry. I'm not sure exactly what the prizes will be, but I know they'll only be of use in Petpet Park.

Basically, I'm trying to tell you now not to expect your average plot. It's something small and simple that was put together to try and keep everyone entertained while waiting for the park to open... not your average mind-bending saga. :)

So, the Grand Opening Celebration that you see now is an introduction to the world of Petpet Park. More info on Petpet Park itself is coming soon, and there might even be a small mini-plot starting possibly next week, maybe, but don't tell anyone we told you. :P

In preparation of this mini-plot (which, don't get your hopes up, but most likely won't be coming out this week... but it'll be a delightful surprise if it does), we have set up our very own plot coverage section! Click here to check it out!

IMPORTANT JN UPDATE

This is an important update regarding jnAccounts!

On September 4th we are going to be cleaning up our databases by deleting all of the unvalidated users that created a jnAccount in July. This means that if you made your account in July and you never validated it properly, it will be deleted. For assistance validating your account, click here.

What is "validated"? Your account is validated when you are able to sign up for any JN services such as Your Dailies, My Wishlists, or Goal Counters OR if you are able to make news comments. :) You validate your account when you signed up for a jnAccount (remember the email?). If you signed up before July, this will most likely not be an issue for you.

Also, on September 6th we will be going through and purging any Wishlists that have not been re-activated within the past three months. If you currently are signed up for the Wishlists, click here for important details about how to re-activate them. :) You can also help us out and click here to discontinue your Wishlist service if you no longer want them. (We won't be deleting any jnAccounts here... just your wishlists!!)

Reminder: You only have two days left to save the JN staffers before the Grundo-Bots arrive!

Petpet Park - Grand Opening

A new Petpet Park is having it's grand opening celebration. This world will feature 6 new petpets. The Kassegat, Hifflo, Drym, Dipni, Oukin, and Pinixy. You will be able to dress up and train these new petpets. They will also be featured in their own games like Petpet Pair-Up and Faerie's Folly.

There is also a new daily prize to collect if you visit Weltrude's Toy Chest. This daily has been added to Jn's Daily do-er, so make sure to add it to your list of dailies.

As of right now, you cannot adopt these new petpets or actually do anything in the Petpet Park apart from checking out the Petpet Pair-Up game and getting your free item. This feature is being advertised at the Burger King code redemption page, so I'm sure that they had to rush this out for that with it not actually being complete. :P

Thanks to one of our Item Adders hoeiva, we have a look at more of the Rare item code wearable backgrounds and garlands. Although most Burger King Neopets toys will not officially debut until September 1st, for those that do have codes to redeem, you can now redeem them. Remember that the code will be on the kids meal bag and not the toys. So you will have to purchase a kids meal, and hold on to that bag! (Canadian Burger King toys will feature the code on the promo toy box)

Burger King Promo Toys

As some of you were aware form our last update, Neopets toys are coming to the kids meals at your local Burger King! The promotion is slated for a release officially on August 25th, however, my local BK reports not starting until the first week of September, so I highly recommend calling your own BK and asking when they'll be starting. :) (It also wouldn't hurt to ask if they sell the toys by themselves.)

So, what kinds of toys will be released? Two kinds. ;) Both plushies and collectible figures will be given out. The following Neopets will be in plushie form: Bruce, Kacheek, Jubjub, and Mynci. The following will be in figure form: Blumaroo, Chomby, Grundo, Meerca, Moehog, Poogle, Shoyru, and Kougra. You can check out a full listing of the toys available on our affiliate website, Neomerch. (Check their first news post for a link to the catalog page, or look on their sidebar for the catalog dropdown menu and select "Burger King".)

Now, for some good and bad news! The good news is that each toy will come with a Rare Item Code to redeem! We're unsure of the prizes planned, but let's just say that the items "Fanciful Green Gemmed Crown" and "Purple Chomby Pancakes" might have something to do with it.

The bad news? This is a United States only promotion. Sorry to all of our international fans. :( (To eBay!)

Canada Update: For those wondering about the toys coming to Canada, we had Joey peek out of his igloo to call some Canadian BKs, and they don't know what the next toy promo is, so it's unlikely that the toys will be in Canada in the next couple of weeks.

Let me be the first to tell you that Key Quest is back in beta testing!

They have a new build up, which is excellent... because I was suffering from KQ withdrawal the last week. :P Good news is that power-ups are fixed in this build. Before it went down last week, any power-up requiring you to pick a player on the board did not work, and effectively lost you your turn. The good news is that this problem is gone! Steal, switch around, and swap places with other players to your heart's content now!

Now, get back to earning those keys and winning those prizes! (Valuable prizes, might I add.)

Two short weeks ago, we celebrated our 50 millionth hit by releasing our new layout into a private beta for the users who referred 3 people to our AC Records service. In those two short weeks, we've fixed a few bugs, tweaked a couple things, and hit the ground running for our next 50 million hits. So today, we make the beta public. :)

To get started, simply check out our Switch Layout page. You'll find all sorts of info on the beta, including what exactly it is, how to start (simply click a link!), and the requirements. Basically, you need to be accepting cookies from JN, and we highly recommend browsing JN in the Firefox web browser, which is much more standards compliant than IE and causes less problems when it comes to rendering JN for your viewing pleasure. ;)

Once you do get started, you'll be dropped off at the New JN page which outlines some of the changes, and where some older links went. Once you have test driven the layout for a couple days, head on over to our Feedback form and let us know your thoughts! Most importantly, any bugs you've come across, but what things you like, dislike, etc. are all welcome in your feedback. :)

Be sure to check out the Site Prefs page as well for a whole host of different JN layout themes you can choose from. (Personally, I'm quite fond of Maraqua... it's simple and bubbly. :P)

So, what are you waiting for? Break the chains of our ugly old layout, and start afresh!
