A Note About Our Scores and Rankings

Hey there!

We've read the comments you all have posted on the NeoBoards about our Scores and Rankings page. We totally appreciate the feedback that you guys have sent in or posted on the NeoBoards.

We know our Predicted Standings were kinda off for both the New Formula and the Old Formula, and we're sorry that they were. Honestly, we should have used the word "Predicted" more than we should have.

We also know that our New Formula was pretty wrong. We believed that TNT was going to change the formula (as they do with a few things around the site to keep us from finding things :P), which is why we decided to go and try out the new formula. We also gave all of you, our users, the choice to use the Old Formula as well. (The Old Formula was "confirmed" by many to be the correct formula TNT uses.)

Just because I'm losing, doesn't mean I'm lost!

We tried to give our users the best we could -- and we failed with our New Formula. It seems that, once again, TNT has managed to elude us as to how they figure out the Team Rankings! We'll keep working to perfect the formula, don't worry -- We'll have a bigger and better formula next Altador Cup! If you have any feedback of any sort, please email it to me at terryILOVESPAM@jellyneo.net. (Remove "ILOVESPAM".)

Darnit, "What is the Altador Cup Standings Formula?" isn't a stupid question :(

We're totally sorry for this booboo, and we'll keep working hard to be the best Neopets resource out there! Thanks for sticking with Jellyneo for your Altador Cup Coverage, and we'll see you again! (During the next plot, which is hopefully Neopets: The Search for More Coldplay" :P)

Scores Update - July 16th Results

Last scores update ever!!!11! ;_; Well, until next year. :P

To start off, hats off to Krawk Island, Mystery Island, Meridell, and the Darigan Citadel for sweeping their opponents. So, onto the non-sweep games!

Firstly, we have Shenkuu vs. Maraqua, which wasn't so dreadfully exciting. Shenkuu won in both Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, and only drew Maraqua in Make Some Noise, making for a very predictable match-up.

Kreludor also came out on top as predicted, with two wins in YYB and MSN over the Haunted Woods, with a draw in Slushie Slinger. Again, not very surprising. :P

Roo Island, on the other hand, had quite a surprising match up against Tyrannia. As usual, Tyrannia took a draw in Slushie Slinger, but managed to snatch a win in MSN. Luckily, the Rooligans were able to maintain their dignity, and achieve a hard earned win in YYB. In the end, though, they still maintained their second place status.

And last but not least, we have the lowly anticipated Altador vs. Brightvale game. Both teams are ranked in the bottom bracket, so it was not the most attended game yesterday. However, Altador, the host of the Cup, pulled a triumphant win in YYB, showing the players from Brightvale just how the sport is played. Team Brightvale, though, could show Altador a thing or two about slinging slushies and making some noise, which they took two wins in.

Overall, not a bad day in the Altador Cup. Though, now the real battle begins as finals begin and any team within one of the four brackets can storm ahead to the top rank in their bracket! (Meaning, Shenkuu can run up and steal 1st place from Krawk Island!) So, stay tuned for a finals update in two days, right here on JN, when the first round of games come to a close!

JN Staff Tourney Update: We're busily tallying up the guesses and seeing who won what! Keep watch on the tourney pages for updates. We hope to have the winners posted and crowned by the 21st! :D

Scores Update - July 15th Results

Well, the final day of the Altador Cup is upon us. Whatever shall we do without it?

Anyways... Totally congrats to Team Kreludor for successfully defeating Team Roo Island in two of the three games -- Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, and tieing with them in Yooyuball. (This makes Team Kreludor the overall winner of yesterday's round, by the way!) That, readers, is why you should never underestimate an opponent. ;)

We asked Team Roo Island Captain, Lilo Blumario about this... set of startling results, and all he said was this: "You know, it's the end of the Altador Cup. We're basically guaranteed a spot in the Top Four, already being in the Top Two and all, so I figured -- we should take a break and get well rested for the real thing, the finals." Wise move by Team Roo Island, as they are basically safe from any place-age movement. They are far ahead enough point-wise to maintain their second place; if the schedule were changed in any other way, there would actually be a possibility that Team Roo Island could be bumped down to Third Place!

Team Meridell, however, should hope that the Altador Cup Committee is using a new formula to calculate rankings, as based on the old formula, they are out of the running for the Cup, while in the new formula, they are in 4th Place, and just hanging onto it by a thread. They'll need to step up their game if they want to head into the finals in the 1st Bracket!

Faerieland played a great game of Yooyuball yesterday, putting all their effort into the game just to tie Team Virtupets. Great strategic move by Team Faerieland, as this adds half a point to their weighted standings!

And... what's this? There's a tie for 5th Place between Teams Shenkuu and Kreludor in the New Formula! (In the Old Formula, they are 0.08 points away from each other, meaning that the placing between the two teams are still up in the air!)

Now, onto the bad news -- the Top 4 Rejectolator 3000 has rejected yet another team (in the New Formula) and two teams (in the Old Formula)! Team Mystery Island is out of the running for the Top 4 in the New Formula, and Teams Meridell and Darigan Citadel are out of the running in the Old Formula! They should still play their hardest tomorrow, as they can still play for 5th Place if they make it into the 2nd Bracket!

Great job to Teams Krawk Island, Meridell, Shenkuu and Tyrannia for sweeping their opponents, and again, GREAT job to Kreludor for managing to defeat Team Roo Island, such a formidable opponent! Because of today's startling results, the games to watch out for tomorrow are most definitely the game between Teams Lost Desert and Krawk Island, as well as the game between Teams Kreludor and Haunted Woods. All four teams have an excellent track record, and we here on the JN Altador Cup Team are looking forward to the finals!

From all of us here on the JN Altador Cup Team (and the JN Altador Cup Tourney People), we thank you for using JN as your Altador Cup Source for Graphics, Standings, News and more, and we hope you'll stay for our plot coverage or our super guides! :)

Remember, for a full view at our weighting system and the Rejectolator 3000, be sure to check out our Scores and Standings Page!

Scores Update - July 14th Results

Our third to last daily scores update. ;_;

Today is a short post, as we send our congratulations to Meridell, Maraqua, Terror Mountain, Shenkuu, Kreludor, and Krawk Island for sweeping their opponents in yesterday's games! Now, that leaves us with only two games to talk about!

First on the agenda, is Haunted Woods vs. Mystery Island. Haunted Woods played strong and took their wins in Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, but Mystery Island's fans did not let up when it came to screaming their lungs out. Earlier we spoke with a "Make Some Noise" judge, and he had some thoughts to say, well, yell, about the HW vs. MI thoughts. "WHAT WAS THAT?? OH... SORRY, COULDN'T HEAR YOU. AFTER TODAY'S MI VS HW ROUND, I'M LEFT WITH THIS LOUD RINGING IN MY EARS... IT'S HARD TO MAKE OUT ANYTHING ELSE THAT ANYBODY IS SAYING... I FEEL LIKE I'M STILL JUDGING THE MSN GAME!" Well then...

Onto Roo Island vs. Lost Desert. The poor Rooligans took a beating from the third place team, the Lost Desert. Although the Rooligans pulled off a win in YYB, they were not able to come out on top in either SS or MSN. Luckily, a draw was issued for SS, so some credit was given. It certainly isn't good to be losing that many wins in the last couple of rounds of the Cup...

Be sure to check out our Scores and Standings page for a more complete look at yesterday's games, and try out our new feature, the Top 4 Rejectolator 3000!

Scores Update - July 13th Results

Well, you know how this first line is usually full of boring non-information? Now there's info. ;) I've thrown up a tiny new feature on our Scores and Standings Page. Introducing... the Top 4 Rejectolater 3000! It slices, it dices, and it tells you your team doesn't have a chance to play for 1st Place! Amazing! This revolutionary technology is so cool, even ninjas don't compare themselves to it because they don't want to look bad! D: For more info (or less), click here to read the official release newspost!

Congrats to Teams Darigan Citadel, Haunted Woods, Krawk Island, Maraqua and Shenkuu for sweeping their opponents. Unfortunately, these sweeps did nothing for any team standings-wise. :P

The most interesting game from yesterday is definately the one between Meridell and Roo Island, with Team Meridell edging out Team Roo Island in Yooyuball, falling slightly back in Slushie Slinger with a tie, and losing to Team Roo Island in Make Some Noise. When we talked to Roo Island Defender Gordo Gunnels, he said this: "We just lost. Is that really such a big deal?" and stormed off into the Team Roo Island locker room. Perhaps his laziness cost his team the game? We'll see when today's results come out later tonight.

Team Kreludor is certainly putting up a great effort, tying with Team Lost Desert in Yooyuball, but perhaps they put too much energy into Yooyuball, giving Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise to team Lost Desert. Overall, yesterday's results were pretty predictable with the exception of Team Roo Island's loss in Yooyuball to Team Meridell.

Of today's games, you should keep an eye out for the game between Team Lost Desert and Team Roo Island. Team Roo Island is so close to getting second place -- it would be surprising if they didn't at least tie in Yooyuball.

Be sure to check out our Scores and Standings page for a more complete look at yesterday's games, and try out our new feature, the Top 4 Rejectolator 3000!

New Feature: Top 4 Rejectolator 3000

Hehe, there's a new tiny feature on our Altador Cup Scores and Standings Page. Do you know what it is? C'mon, guess!

Um... it doesn't say anything about a Rejectolator, do you see anything?

Introducing... the Top 4 Rejectolator 3000! Yes, that's what it really does. It tells you whether or not your team can make it to the Top 4. (And it works with our Day Links AND our Team Highlighting AND the Double Formula Feature!) If teams are in red, that means that the team can not make it to the first bracket. If your team is in yellow, that means that the team YOU are on can not make it to the first bracket. (And if it's in blue or white, congratulations. :P)

This new feature is only on our Team Standings table. (The Top 8 table doesn't really need it... :P) Go check it out!

Scores Update - July 12th Results

Teeheehee, I'm stealing Scores Update from Dave again! :D

Congratulations to Teams Kreludor, Lost Desert and Shenkuu for being the only teams to sweep today! (They swept Teams Terror Mountain, Virtupets and Altador.)

There are four more days left in the Altador Cup Double Round Robin, and only so many more points left to be given out by the Altador Cup Committee. (Well, 6.27 Points for the New Formula and 5.60 Points for the Old Formula.)

In the New Formula, this means that Krawk Island and Roo Island are confirmed to be in the Top Four, with teams 10-16 (Tyrannia through Faerieland) not being able to make it up to the top 4 regardless of their sweeping of other opponents. To see if your team is in that range, head on over to our Team Standings table! We talked to Roo Island Team Captain, Lilo Blumario, about the confirmation of their being in the Top 4. "Well, even though we're in the top four, we're still below Krawk Island. It's either number one or nothing. It's definitely not time for celebration yet -- I plan on having a hot, steaming cup of Piratey Fruit Juice with the Cup by my side."

However, the Old Formula is a different story. Teams Lost Desert to Shenkuu (Teams 3-5) all have a shot at the first bracket, with everyone above Team Haunted Woods having a shot at the second, and the third and fourth basically totally open. (Duh. :P) The only confirmations for the Old Formula are that Teams Krawk Island and Roo Island will be in the first bracket and Teams Tyrannia and Maraqua will be in the third bracket.

The most surprising win from yesterday is the Yooyuball win from the game between Team Faerieland and Team Brightvale, which ultimately went to Team Faerieland! (If this seems familiar, it is. Why? Because this happened 11 days ago too.) Despite losing to Brightvale in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, Faerieland got the overall win today, adding one point to their weighted score. When we talked to Team Faerieland Captain Kakoni Worrill earlier, he said only this: "Those who are dead, are not dead -- They're just living in your head. ;)", perhaps commenting on their belief that people assume Team Faerieland is the weakest team, and that they can change the cup lickety split.

Compared to the last time they battled in the Yooyuball Arena, Team Meridell has upped their game against Team Mystery Island, trading in some of their Noisemakers for some Yooyuball Slings. Obviously, this was a useful trade, as it led to a Meridell Yooyuball win and a Make Some Noise tie. This wise move also propelled Team Meridell up one slot, into 5th Place. If they keep this up, they could quite possibly make it to the first bracket by the end of the Double Round Robin!

For more Scores and Standings, be sure to check out our Scores and Standings page!
Scores Update - July 11th Results

Lateness ensues once again. It was totally because we wanted to give you time to read our editorial first, though. *shifty eyes*

Anywho, down to business. Meridell, Krawk Island, Roo Island, the Lost Desert, and the Haunted Woods all swept their opponents in yesterday's games. All of the above are top four contenders, but Meridell and the Woods are the only ones currently not there.

Our first game of discussion of Kreludor vs. Maraqua. It wasn't a tough day at all for the Kreludans, as they pulled a win in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise. But the Maraquans know how to sling slushies with a passion, as their team took home a win in Slushie Slinger. Despite the one win from Maraqua, though, Kreludor still pulled up into fourth place, dominating over Mystery Island. With only five days of play left... can they keep it?

Next, we have the Darigan Citadel vs. Tyrannia. As is customary, Tyrannia took their win in Slushie Slinger (seriously... where are they pulling all of those wins from!?) and a draw in MSN. With the finals on the line, this was certainly a bad day for the Darigan Citadel. If they have another day like this, they could be kissing any chance at the top four goodbye.

Shenkuu, on the other hand, is shifting into upper gear as they pummeled poor Mystery Island to the ground yesterday. Fighting fierce, and fighting to win, Team Shenkuu easily received two wins in SS and MSN. Not wanting to lose it all, MI stepped it up in YYB, but still only managed a draw. This slip has indeed hurt MI quite badly, forcing them to take fifth place in the standings.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team. And don't forget, these posts will only be posted the AC Coverage section during the week, but during weekends, we'll post them on the main site as well. :)

Also, don't forget to vote every two days in our AC Staff Tourney. Only two rounds remain! Go guess now!

Scores Update - July 10th Results

As Day 24 comes to a close, most teams have stepped it up in their bid for the top four.

Congratulations is in order for Shenkuu, Kreludor, Mystery Island, the Darigan Citadel, the Haunted Woods, and Tyrannia (oohhh, could they be top 4 material next year?) for sweeping their opponents in yesterday's events. All of those teams, save for Tyrannia, have a shot at the top four, so kudos to them for pulling a sweep!

Now, we have the Lost Desert and Meridell, another two teams vying for the top spots. However, much to the chagrin of the Meridellians, the Lost Desert took wins in both Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, but only managed a tie with the knights in Yooyuball. However, despite this apparent poor showing, neither team moved in or out of the place they were in just yesterday.

And now... for the big game everyone's been talking about... Krawk Island vs. Roo Island! Many were disappointed with yesterday's downtime, thinking that the teams would be at a disadvantage. However, both teams were being affected, so it turned out just fine. Krawk Island played hard, but took a loss in YYB, not able to beat the Rooligans and their magic on the field. However, slushie slinging was looking better for the pirates, as they pulled their only win in the match in SS. MSN, on the other hand, had to be called as a tie, as the judges could not tell if either of the teams' fans were screaming louder than the other.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.

Also, don't forget to vote every two days in our AC Staff Tourney.
Almost done! Just seven more matches left! :O

To start off, congrats goes to Maraqua, Kreludor, Mystery Island, Roo Island and the Lost Desert for pulling sweeps in yesterday's matches. That leaves three matches requiring discussion.

For the second time during the Cup, Meridell and the Darigan Citadel have gone head to head. The Citadel prevailed over Meridell in both Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, but Meridell still kept their dignity, achieving a win in Slushie Slinger. We caught up with Layton Vickles, captain and left forward for Team Darigan, and asked him what he thought about DC's performance this year: "Well, it's been a rough year after winning the Cup last year. It seems as if every team we play has a vengeance for wanting to defeat us, and after playing like that day after day, you get a bit tired out. We'll pull through, though, and hopefully our individual performance during the Cup will earn us some MVP spots at the end. I think I've played well enough that I deserve to have another action figure made in my honor!"

Next, we turn to the Krawk Island vs. Shenkuu match. Unfortunately for the pirates, Shenkuu has toughened up since the two teams met in the first round robin. Instead of pulling a sweep like last time, Krawk Island only managed two draws against Shenkuu in YYB and MSN, and luckily pulled a win in SS. The Krawk Islanders aren't taking it too badly, though. They still have a considerable lead over Roo Island.

Last but not least, we have the Haunted Woods vs. Tyrannia. As expected, Tyrannia took their win in Slushie Slinger, but had two losses in YYB and MSN. That's good news, however, for the Haunted Woods, who is one of many teams vying for a spot in the top four.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.

Also, don't forget to vote every two days in our AC Staff Tourney.
Scores Update - July 8th Results

Sorry for the lateness again! We've been pretty busy with other projects these past couple of days. :(

Anywho, congrats goes out to Krawk Island, Roo Island, and Tyrannia, the only three teams able to pull sweeps of their opponents! This is great for them, but bad for us, since that means a long scores update post. :P

The first match we'll discuss is Darigan Citadel vs. Kreludor. It was an extremely fierce battle of two powerful teams, but the Kreludans came out on top of the heap with two wins in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, and a tie in Yooyuball. This is definitely good news for team Kreludor, who has been in a battle for the top four ever since the first match of the Cup.

Maraqua vs. Brightvale was pretty uneventful, apart from the draw that Brightvale managed in Make Some Noise. Brightvale has shown consistency in being one of the lowest ranked teams this year, only second to Faerieland.

Shenkuu and Meridell had an exciting day, with draws in YYB and SS, but a win to Shenkuu in MSN. Like Kreludor, both of these teams are able contenders for the top four, and either of the three would not surprise Neopia by getting there.

Our next game is MI vs. LD, two more equally matched teams. A draw was issued in YYB, but each team managed a win in the other two events. Unfortunately for LD, their win in MSN is worth the least of the other two events.

Last but not least, kudos goes out to Virtupets for their win in YYB against Altador! They're having quite a decent showing this year, and as of right now are ranked in the third finals bracket, meaning they could reach all the way up to 9th in the final ranking. Altador fought back, however, taking a win in MSN, and upsetting enough of Virtupets' slushies to take a draw in SS.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.

Also, don't forget to vote every two days in our AC Staff Tourney.
Score Update - July 7th Results

Yesterday was... forgive me, actually quite interesting.

No team except for Krawk Island managed to pull off a sweep, so total kudos to them!

Teams Maraqua, Shenkuu and Terror Mountain put up a great effort in Yooyuball, managing to tie their opponents, teams Darigan Citadel, Kreludor, and Altador, but forgot about Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, which are worth roughly half a Yooyuball win on our New Formula. When we asked Shenkuu Goalkeeper, Xana DiLanche, about this, she declined to comment, saying nothing more than that they forgot about the side games.

Congratulations to Teams Lost Desert, Meridell and Virtupets for getting the Yooyuball win against their opponents -- this win moved Team Meridell up one rank, with Teams Lost Desert and Virtupets remaining at their previous rank, 3rd Place and 13th Place respectively. (It appears as if Team Virtupets is suffering from the forgetfulness bug also... We'll keep an eye out for that when today's games are over!)

Overall, no big movement in the standings. Shenkuu traded spots with Kreludor, moving down one to 7th Place and Meridell moved up one, from 5th to 4th, now allowing them to play for 1st Place.

Today's big match to watch is the one between Team Mystery Island and Team Lost Desert -- with only two points between them in the standings, Mystery Island could get to 4th Place (and have a chance at the cup) quickly!

Remember that you can check out our Scores and Standings, now with added functionality so you can see both new formula and old formula calculations!

New Feature - Two Formulas Are Better Than One!

Oh, but there's one more thing.

One More Thing...

We know you like to see our Predicted Standings and Scores. And we know you like to look at that page obsessively to see where your team is at.

Since the Altador Cup began, we have been working hard to find a good formula for this year's Altador Cup. And we believe we have found it, but we just don't know if it's the right one. However, we do know that the old formula for last year's Altador Cup worked. About ten days ago, I started playing around with my formulas, seeing how much a team's standings changed between our new formula and the old formula. The results were... quite interesting. Teams were able to jump up and down by as many as five places, and margins between two teams were often as close as 0.01 of a point.

This is why we have added a new feature -- the ability to see our Predicted Scores and Standings using two different formulas! Everything on the page works the same way it did before this new feature - the section links, the day links, everything.

All you need to do to flip between the new formula and the old formula is to hit the link that says See Old/New Formula. So what are you doing, just sitting here reading this post? Go try it!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, this feature works best with two tabs open, one with the new formula and one with the old. :P

Score Update - July 6th Results

Honestly, we need a better word than "interesting". Perhaps... Coldplay! Yes, yesterday's games were very Coldplay. ;)

Anyways, five teams were able to pull sweeps on their opponents yesterday; the sweeps that teams Krawk Island, Lost Desert, Roo Island and Tyrannia had pulled allowed them to remain in their current ranking spot, while team Shenkuu moved up one spot from 7th Place to 6th Place, pushing team Kreludor down one spot.

The game between Darigan Citadel and Mystery Island ended with a Yooyuball and Make Some Noise win for Darigan and a tie for both teams in Slushie Slinger. Darigan's win in this round, coupled with Haunted Woods' loss against Roo Island, allowed Team Darigan to move up one rank, from 9th Place to 8th Place.

Now, with 10 more days left in the Altador Cup, you may be asking, "Can my team still make it to the first bracket to play for 1st Place?" We've done the math, and unfortunately, teams Altador, Brightvale and Faerieland are not going to be able to make it to the 1st Bracket. When we broke this news to Faerieland team captain, Kakoni Worrill, he said this: "You know, we played hard, we fought hard, and despite the fact that we are not able to get first place now, I am very proud of our team for at least making it here and fighting for first."

You should keep an eye out for the game between Tyrannia and Lost Desert. Team Tyrannia's itching to get into the second bracket!

Remember, you can always check out our Scores and Rankings for more information on where your team is currently at as well as how close you are to another rank!
Score Update - July 5th Results

Another day, another interesting set of results!

In yesterday's matches, an interesting game to watch was Meridell vs. Kreludor. When the dust settled, both had come out with draws across the board. Both teams fought very hard, and both are able contenders in this year's Cup. In fact, both teams have at one point been in the top four, a place where many teams have been moving in and out of. (And there's still plenty of time for both to move back in.)

After Roo Island and Shenkuu's match in the first round robin, things were not looking that great for Team Shenkuu. However, yesterday's matches were quite the contrary! Their Yooyuball game was probably the most exciting of the day. Roo Island played hard, but Shenkuu still managed to tie the Rooligans. Slushie Slinger was more in favor of Roo Island, though, with a win being awarded to them. The last event, Make Some Noise went to Shenkuu, however, to make it an even number of wins between the two teams.

And last but not least, we come to Faerieland vs. Altador. Team Faerieland had a good show in their match. They have taken yet another win in Yooyuball, the most valuable event. However, Team Altador wasn't about to let the lowest ranked team have their full 15 minutes of glory. Instead, Altador played fiercely in the two side events, and ended up with wins in both SS and MSN. Hats off to the Faeries, though, for their second win in YYB!

Now, for the sweeps... The Darigan Citadel, Tyrannia, the Lost Desert, Mystery Island and Krawk Island all performed at their top levels yesterday, and won all three games against their opponents.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team. The first five rounds have finished... only five more to go! It's been a rough first ten days, but the staffers have persevered, and they're still going strong.
Score Update - July 4th Results

Hope all of our US visitors had a happy Independence Day. :)

Now, onto the scores update! Teams Tyrannia and Maraqua had a clash in yesterday's games. Maraqua was able to maintain a win in Yooyuball, but Tyrannia was fierce in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, taking a win in both. Slowly but surely, Tyrannia is inching its way up through the rankings with all of their little wins here and there...

Roo Island and the Darigan Citadel also went up against each other yesterday. As expected, Roo Island took wins in YYB and MSN, but drew with the Draconians in SS.

Team Shenkuu also had an interesting match with the Lost Desert. Both had draws in YYB and SS, but Shenkuu took the win in MSN, the game worth least in the tournament. As you might have noticed, Shenkuu has been on an upswing as of late. We caught up with Shenkuu's right defender, Larcy Phu, and asked him about their new found strength. "We definitely suffered in the first round robin portion of this year's Altador Cup. But looking back on our losing record, we were only more inspired to quadruple our efforts during the second half and try to propel ourselves out of the lower ranks, and back into the top four where we belong. We still have a ways to go, but there's plenty of game play left. So watch out for Shenkuu!"

The rest of the matches all had commendable sweeps by the winners: Krawk Island, Terror Mountain, Meridell, the Haunted Woods, and Mystery Island.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.
Score Update - July 3rd Results

Welcome to another day of AC results! (And this time, they're not late! :P)

There's a lot to talk about today, because only Shenkuu, the Haunted Woods, and Roo Island pulled sweeps of their opponents.

As for the other five matches, let's begin with MI vs. Maraqua. MI has been holding steady the past couple of days in 5th place, so it's rather surprising that they were upset by Maraqua, the 10th place team. Both had draws in YYB and SS, but the Islanders prevailed in MSN, effectively out yelling their opponents.

Terror Mountain also had a good showing, rising above Virtupets in both YYB and MSN. Virtupets, however, was able to steal their own win in SS, even after one of their robot teammates spilled an entire slushie onto his main circuit board, sitting them out for the rest of the match.

The Darigan Citadel and Lost Desert was also a big "clash of the titans" game, ending in ties in YYB and SS, but a win being awarded to the LD in MSN. Definitely a surprise since DC has been proving to be less than first place material during previous rounds.

Meridell and Krawk Island also had a tense round yesterday. The two powerhouse teams were able to draw in YYB, but KI took two wins in MSN and SS, effectively defeating Meridell for round 17.

Last but not least, we have Tyrannia vs. Kreludor. Kreludor was the favored team going in, but Tyrannia reared its ugly, prehistoric head and came crashing down on the futuristic moon pets. The Tyrannians earned wins in both SS and MSN, but allowed Kreludor to take their win in YYB. Tyrannia is definitely proving to be a powerhouse upsetter this year. Their concentrated efforts on the side games are upsetting even the top teams such as Krawk Island and Roo Island.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.

Score Update - July 2nd Results

Another day, another set of sweeps!

Teams Darigan Citadel, Krawk Island, Lost Desert, Maraqua, Roo Island, Shenkuu all managed to pull off sweeps against their opponents! (Well, that doesn't leave much to talk about, eh? :P)

Team Meridell put up a tough fight against Team Tyrannia, managing to beat Tyrannia at Yooyuball and tieing with Tyrannia at Slushie Slinger. Despite the appearance that Tyrannia and Meridell have drawn this round, rank-wise, it isn't so. You see, Yooyuball is worth one full point, while Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise are worth fractions of a point. Therefore, a victory in Yooyuball would mean that you have essentially "won" the round. The Captain of Team Tyrannia, Loryche, was saddened when she heard this news, essentially halting all celebrations that had begun to take place back in the Team Tyrannia's Altador Colosseum Locker Room. (Of course, ice cream heals most wounds. )

Of course, when Team Kreludor heard this news, they were ecstatic as this meant that they had defeated Team Mystery Island, who came in 6th Place last year. Team Captain, Derlyn Fonnet, had this to say: "Well, despite our setback last year with our gravity controls on our practice field, we were able to come back strong this year, which is really all that matters. We're definitely doing much better this year than we would have last year if we decided to risk it and play in the Cup. I am quite pleased with our performance, allowing us to reach 4th Place from our previous 7th Place six days ago."

There are a few games to watch out for today, the game between Meridell and Krawk Island, Darigan Citadel and Lost Desert, and between Maraqua and Mystery Island. The results will be, for a lack of better words, very interesting.

You can head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for a full set of... well, scores and current predicted rankings using the new formula! (Oh, and we've updated our Rank Tool with higher minimum scores! Hopefully, this should help all of you get the avatar and reach the All Star rank!)

Score Update - July 1st Results

Oh dear, these score updates are a bit late, but that was because I spent the day at Six Flags the other day, and the day I missed has totally thrown off my routine. (How was Terry's update, by the way? Better than mine are? :P)

Anywho, yesterday was business like usual for teams Roo Island, Shenkuu, Kreludor and the Lost Desert, as they were able to sweep their opponents for an easy three wins.

Krawk Island vs. Tyrannia, on the other hand, didn't turn out like the pirates would have liked. Tyrannia is on fire with Slushie Slinger (figuratively of course... or else the slushies would all melt :O), pulling a win over Krawk Island, and proving that they're a beast at slinging slushies. (How do they do it!?)

The day was rather bleak for the Haunted Woods (though, I'm told it's always dreary weather in the Haunted Woods). The Darigan Citadel was showing a little "oomf" yesterday by winning both YYB and MSN, and taking a draw against the poor denizens of Haunted Woods in SS.

Another well played game was that of Mystery Island vs. Meridell. Both of them are yo-yoing in and out of the top four places, so this was an important match for both teams. Meridell was lucky enough to take wins in both MSN and SS, but MI triumphed in YYB, the most important event of the AC.

One of the most surprising events was Faerieland's Yooyuball win yesterday against Brightvale! This is their first win ever during the third AC, so it's a big time of celebration for the faeries today. :) Not surprisingly though, Brightvale is ranked in the bottom most bracket, so it's not big of a feat, but a feat nonetheless. ;)

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.

Today is the last day of the first Round Robin, which means that there are 15 more games to go!

Interestingly enough, if anyone wins every game that they have to play, they can zoom up to 1st Place by the end of the Altador Cup, just in time for the semifinals!

Kudos to teams Haunted Woods, Krawk Island, Roo Island, and Shenkuu for sweeping their opponents, teams Altador, Meridell, Brightvale and Faerieland, respectively. Team Haunted Woods moved up from 7th Place to 3th Place, and Shenkuu from 9th to 8th.

Maraqua put up a great fight yesterday against Mystery Island, tieing in everything except Yooyuball. Darigan Citadel was also playing hard against Lost Desert, tieing in everything with them except Slushie Slinger, which Team Lost Desert took.

There are two matches you should keep your eye out for -- Darigan Citadel v Haunted Woods, Mystery Island v Meridell, and Roo Island v Maraqua. These three matches WILL move teams into and out of the Top 4 -- potentially making today the most important day.

You should head on over to our Scores and Rankings Page to see the full standings!

The second to last day of the first round robin has finished...

Kreludor has yet again shown its strength by stealing two wins from the Lost Desert, a team thought to have a definite spot in the top four. Could Kreludor surprise us all and rise up to the top bracket?

Tyrannia's winning streak in Slushie Slinger was also upset by Mystery Island. Although neither lost, a draw was issued by the AC scoring committee. The Darigan Citadel was also mildly upset by a low level team, Altador, who managed to tie DC in Slushie Slinger.

Another big match was that of Meridell vs. Roo Island. YYB resulted in a draw, but Meridell pulled a win in SS and RI won in MSN. Definitely an interesting game.

Other teams that had good days were Krawk Island, Shenkuu, the Haunted Woods, and Maraqua. They all swept their opponents and had a nice boost in their rank.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.

And as the dust settles... another day of matches have concluded.

The biggest game of the day was that of Roo Island vs. Krawk Island. Neither pulled more wins than the other, but Roo Island was able to get a win in Yooyuball, showing their prowess on the field. Krawk Island, not to be completely shown up, started slinging slushies like crazy and got their win in Slushie Slinger. Both teams couldn't scream any louder than one another, though... resulting in a tie for Make Some Noise.

Another big match was Meridell vs. The Lost Desert. Similar to RI vs. KI, each got one win, but a draw in the third event. But this time, the draw was in YYB, the most important event in the Cup.

The rest of the events also went extremely well for the winners. Tyrannia, Shenkuu, the Darigan Citadel, the Haunted Woods, Kreludor and Mystery Island all swept their opponents, making for a very short scores update today.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.
Another day, another great set of matches.

Before we talk about yesterday... let's talk about today! The two top teams, Krawk Island and Roo Island will be squaring off today... and boy what a match up it'll be! The team who wins this will most likely steal first place, so much is on the line for both teams. Roo Island may be able to re-claim the spot that Krawk Island has been guarding dearly since it achieved it earlier this week.

Anywho, back to yesterday. The biggest match of the day was the squareoff between Krawk Island and the Lost Desert, both very powerful teams. Both their Yooyuball and Make Some Noise games ended in a draw, but Krawk Island came out victorious in Slushie Slinger.

Another interesting match was that of Roo Island and Tyrannia. We're not sure what those Tyrannian players are doing, but it's becoming impossible for them to lose any of their Slushie Slinger matches! Apart from that, Roo Island took wins in both YYB and MSN.

The poor Darigan Citadel was also mildly upset by Virtupets, a team that you would think would never be able to achieve a draw against another team. But they did so anyway, having a draw in SS, but two losses in YYB and MSN.

Kreludor is also showing that it wants a shot at the Cup this year. They plowed over the Haunted Woods yesterday, snapping up wins in YYB and SS, but allowing a win to reach the hands of the Haunted Woods in MSN. Slowly but surely, they're climbing the ranks. Could they come out of nowhere and secure themselves a place in the top four? I definitely wouldn't be surprised if they pull that off.

Meridell, Mystery Island, Brightvale, and Shenkuu also had good days, pulling off a sweep of their opponents.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.
It wasn't a very good day for some teams in the past day's events.

Only two sweeps were made in yesterday's games. Both Roo Island and Krawk Island were the only two able to pull sweeps over their opponents, Mystery Island and Faerieland respectively.

Other interesting matches included the Darigan Citadel and Maraqua. Even though DC was able to pull a win in YYB and MSN, Maraqua did not let them sling anymore slushies than they could. Tyrannia is also still showing that they won't ever lose a game of Slushie Slinger--they just beat the Lost Desert (but let the desert residents take wins in YYB and MSN).

There was also a mild upset with Kreludor and Shenkuu. Both teams took draws in YYB and SS, but Shenkuu took the win in MSN. Not that Shenkuu has been showing much strength this year, but team Kreludor is showing that they're ready to meet any team head on.

Virtupets won their match against Brightvale, having a win in SS and draws in the other two events. Altador had a good showing against Terror Mountain as well, getting two wins in SS and MSN, but a loss in YYB. And last but not least, the Haunted Woods achieved a win in YYB, but a loss in SS and a draw in MSN against Meridell.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.

Score Update - June 25th Results

Yesterday was... quite interesting.

It was an amazing day for teams Krawk Island, Maraqua, Roo Island and Tyrannia, sweeping their opponents, teams Haunted Woods, Brightvale, Terror Mountain and Faerieland, respectively. Krawk Island is holding steady in 1st Place, Maraqua is slowly creeping up to the Top Four, and is moving into the Top Eight. (Remember that finals this year are being done in a new bracket system, so don't lose hope!)

In other news, it appears as if the Battle of the Lands will continue between Roo Island and Tyrannia, with Roo Island rising back up to 2nd Place and Lost Desert's fall to 3rd. Who will get 2nd Place tomorrow? We shall see. Lost Desert needs to step it up just a bit so the point margin between them and Roo Island remains the same, especially with Tyrannia being their opponent today. Tune in to jnNews for the latest score info!

The best match from yesterday, between Kreludor and Darigan Citadel, ultimately ended in a tie for all three games. Kreludor is putting up a great effort in this Altador Cup, and I would not be surprised if they make their way up to the Top 4 from their current 7th Place. We asked Darigan Citadel Team Captain, Layton Vickles, about yesterday's games and he had this to say: "We've been pretty out of it lately. Honestly, I'm still a bit fatigued from the last Altador Cup, and I'm sure the rest of my team is. Our supporters are great, and we enjoy having all of you at our games. We'll be back up in 1st Place before you know it!"

In other news, there appears to be quite a lot of drawing and sweeping going on. I like the latter. The more drawing that happens, the closer you are to other teams weighted score-wise. More sweeping, less drawing. *nod*

Overall, it appears that all teams are stepping their game up (like Kreludor, the new team on the block) -- of course, with a few exceptions. Shenkuu, last year ending in 3rd Place, is now in 11th Place, and the somewhat predictable fall of Darigan Citadel, last year taking home the Altador Cup, now in 10th Place. You still have 21 more days. If you step it up, you still have a chance at winning the cup!

Head over to our Scores and Rankings Page for more score information!
Another day of interesting matches in the third Altador Cup!

It's nothing but good news for Shenkuu, who was able to sweep Terror Mountain, and claim three more victories to add to their record. Could this be an upswing and a change in attitude of team Shenkuu that will get them to the top like last year? We'll see... they have 22 more days to make it!

It was also another disappointing day for Roo Island, who lost to the Haunted Woods in Make Some Noise, and had a draw in Slushie Slinger. They were still able to maintain their integrity, however, and earn a win in Yooyuball. As Neopia looks upon the games, everyone is beginning to wonder if Roo Island has become a little too confident with their powerhouse streak during the first few rounds.

Another good match was that of Mystery Island and the Darigan Citadel. Once again, the Darigan Citadel has not won, but was able to pick up two draws under Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. They did not have as much luck with Yooyuball, though, with Mystery Island stealing a win in that event.

Maraqua and Meridell, two teams thought to be matched evenly, also went head to head in yesterday's games. Meridell was triumphant, though, with its single win in Slushie Slinger, and draws in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise.

Other notable mentions include Krawk Island, Tyrannia, Kreludor, and the Lost Desert for pulling sweeps of their competition.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.
Big, big, BIG upset in today's score updates!

In what has probably been the biggest upset in the Cup thus far, team Lost Desert has managed to sweep Roo Island right across the floors of the Altador Colosseum! This definitely comes as a surprise to the Rooligans, as they have been considered the forerunners in this year's Cup, and the ones expected to snap up first place. Now, it appears as if Krawk Island has gained a considerable lead over Roo Island due to its sweep of the Darigan Citadel. There's still plenty of time for Roo Island to catch up, though! In fact, this Saturday is when both Islands meet up on the field for the first time in this year's competition.

In other news, Shenkuu has also gained some success over their opponents yesterday, Tyrannia. Shenkuu was able to pull their first Yooyuball win, and a second win in Make Some Noise. Tyrannia, however, was able to get their own win in Slushie Slinger, a sport that they are proving to know how to play.

Maraqua, Kreludor, Terror Mountain, and Meridell were also able to pull sweeps of their opponents for a good showing in yesterday's games. The Haunted Woods is also proving to not be a team that you can be lax with! They pulled a draw in both YYB and SS with Mystery Island, but managed to win MSN.

This has definitely been the most exciting day so far in this year's Cup!
Score Update - June 22nd Results

Hello again fellow Jellopians, here is yesterday's match update.

The Lost Desert, Haunted Woods, Meridell, Kreludor, Roo Island, and Krawk Island all had easy days yesterday. Each pulled off a clean sweep of their opponents. The Rooligans left poor Faerieland in the dust, in what looks like will be another bad year for them. Kreludor is also showing itself to be a worthy team, having pulled off its second sweep, and having a good first couple of days in their matches against the non-dominant teams.

Tyrannia also had a fantastic showing in yesterday's matches. After placing 11th in last year's Cup and not being considered a powerful team, they went and stole the Slushie Slinger competition from right under the noses of the Darigan Citadel. It seems as if the Draconians are proving time and time again that yes--winning the Cup is a curse for your next year of play.

There is also fantastic news about team Shenkuu! They earned their first win yesterday over Mystery Island in a fierce Make Some Noise battle. Although most Shenkuu players now have a serious case of laryngitis, they did not let that prevent them from achieving a draw in Yooyuball, the most important event. (After all, you don't need to talk in order to play Yooyuball!)

We also have a couple of Altador Cup related tidbits to share. Firstly, if anyone is interested in Twitter, check out the Altador Cup Twitter feed created by Sirius, former owner of The Times Tower. He'll be making updates daily about the Altador Cup.

Also, our AC Staff Tourney top three guessing ends tomorrow night! If you haven't already, get over to the guessing page and make your guess now. It can't hurt to participate when there's a pot of 250,000 NP up for grabs. ;)

Also, to those having trouble with our Altador Cup Record images, we have switched up the coding for Neopets. We think the issue was that in IE6 and below, you needed to add width and height attributes to the image, so, we went ahead and programmed them in. If you were having trouble before, please re-copy and paste your coding to where it once was to get the fix. If you didn't have problems before--don't worry, you need not change anything.
Another day, another set of results.

This day was not much like any other we've been having. Krawk Island, Roo Island, the Lost Desert, Kreludor and Mystery Island all played wonderfully and swept their opponents. Probably the biggest of the sweeps was Krawk Island's sweep of Shenkuu. When will Shenkuu get a win? They only have 25 more chances!

Another interesting matchup was that of Meridell and the Darigan Citadel, both historically old rivals. When Meridell captain Windelle was questioned about the match, he had this to say: "As most of Neopia knows, Meridell and the Darigan Citadel have not gotten along well in the past. *chuckle* Two wars later, we're not exactly best friends, but we can loosen up the tension a bit on the Yooyuball field in a good game or two."

Also, Tyrannia, one of the weaker teams, is due for a little bit of time in the spotlight, as they were able to pull a draw with the Haunted Woods, who have been storming ahead in this year's competition.

As always, check out our updated Scores and Rankings page for the latest lineup. Multiple teams have been moving in and out of third and fourth places, and it doesn't seem as if any dominant teams have yet claimed their places there yet. Perhaps a new, less favored team may be able to steal a spot there this year.

Also, just a note that from now on, all weekday score updates will be published exclusively to our Altador Cup coverage section. We'll still post the weekend updates on the front page, though!

Wow, yet another interesting day of YYBing!

The big match was the Roo Island vs. Darigan Citadel pair up, and Roo Island has proven themselves to be the stronger team this year. They took a win in YYB and SS, but allowed DC to have a win in MSN... just to be good sports. ;)

Shenkuu also had another disappointing day. They lost in both MSN and SS, and had a draw in YYB with the Lost Desert. Will they repeat like last year and gain back their momentum later on in the competition? Or is this foreshadowing their fate in this year's Cup?

Other teams also had a good showing, namely Krawk Island, Mystery Island, Meridell, and the Haunted Woods, all pulling off a sweep of their opponents. With Krawk Island's sweep, they have moved a teeny bit closer to overcoming Roo Island, who has only lost one of their MSN contests, which counts for the least in the Cup.

Be sure to check out our updated Scores Page for full scoring data, and a prediction of the current forerunners after four days of hard competition.
Score Update - June 19th's Results

Yesterday's results are in, and there are quite a few surprises!

As predicted by the masses, Darigan Citadel, Roo Island, and Krawk Island all swept their opponents. However, poor Shenkuu is not living up to their hype from last year. After being swept by Roo Island on Day 1, having all draws with the Darigan Citadel on Day 2, Day 3 should have been an easy day. However, team Shenkuu lost their game of Yooyuball against the Haunted Woods, and drew for the Make Some Noise and Slushie Slinger matches. A big upset, to say the least, after the Haunted Woods was not predicted to be a forerunner in this year's Cup.

Needless to say, the other matches all went well, with the Lost Desert beating Brightvale in YYB and MSN, but drawing in SS. Kreludor and Mystery Island was also an interesting match, having draws across all three games. Maraqua also took the most wins against Terror Mountain, with a draw in Slushie Slinger. And last but not least, Tyrannia took a beating from Meridell after losing in YYB and MSN, but drawing in SS.

For an updated list of the estimated rankings, and a win summary for each team, check out our scores page each day for updates.

Also, in case you haven't been following the Altador Cup news, team Kiko Lake has been recovered! Turns out, they were caught in a terrible rock slide during their journey to Altador. At this time, there are suspicions that Tyrannia had something to do with the incident, as Destruct-O-Match III was recently unveiled to Neopia by the Tyrannian Council of Elders. All of those rocks that have been crushed needed to go somewhere...

Altador Cup III - Updates and Some Plugs ;)

Hi there. You may know me as the poor guy that has to work on various pages such as the Yooyuball Guide and the Scores Page. However, some of you may not know that I am also the guy behind the Altador Cup Player Avatar Tool. (Ironically, I do not have the avatar, har har.)

Anyways, I have good news. I have made it so that the calculator does more than predict how many more games you need to play for the avatar, it now predicts how many more games you need to play to reach the next rank! (Click here for the Altador Cup Rank Tool!)

If there are any problems with the tool, feel free to email me at terryNOSPAM@jellyneo.net, removing "NOSPAM". Thanks. Here are some links to things I think you should read and enjoy. :)

Oh, and you can stop feeling sorry for me now. ;)

EDIT: The Scores Page has been updated! :) And if you haven't set your Altador Cup Team yet, you may want to do so. Why? Because the Scores Page will highlight your team! (You can click here to set it!)

Altador Cup Coverage | Support Graphics | My AC Record | AC Rank Tool

Altador Cup Updates

We have a couple updates here regarding our Altador Cup section. :)

Firstly, our nifty Scores Page has been updated with yesterday's results. Krawk Island, Altador, Mystery Island, Roo Island, and Darigan have all swept their opposing teams, securing themselves in a rather large tie for first place. Of course, this will most likely change as the tournament continues on, with a single team emerging as the forerunner.

Secondly, you may have noticed JN's uber slowness since the start of the cup. Well, it's the Altador Cup Record's fault. :P So, to offset the constant updating, we've imposed a 5 minute waiting period between your record updates. We'll adjust this number according to JN's load. And remember, a game of YYB takes anywhere from 2-3 minutes, so 5 minutes is a pretty reasonable starting time. ;) However, you may feel free to update your raw scores as you please, since they are not connected to any images at the moment.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Cup! Now, get back to the Colosseum and start kicking some AC booty!

A thought on everyone's mind this year is which team will be out of the tournament? Due to there being room for only 16 teams, one of the 17 must go, and so far, we have evidence that Kiko Lake will be sitting it out, and Kreludor will be back in!

If you get out your magnifying glasses and take a peek at this AC3 Neoboard icon, you can see that Kiko Lake's colors have been swapped out for Kreludor!

 -->

Now, compare it to the first Altador Cup's icon, and you can clearly see that Kiko Lake's green and brown previously adorned the top left corner of the AC logo.
